Use our own web address, and let our staff join by their email domain

For organization admins. You need to be able to add DNS records for your domain, at the company you bought it from or the one that runs its DNS (your registrar or DNS provider). Your atduty address keeps working whatever you add here. A web address of your own needs the plan (your trial includes it); email domains need no plan.

Use your own web address

  1. In atduty: open Web address and email domains. Under Use your own domain, type the address, such as events.example.org, and choose Add.
  2. In atduty: a list of DNS records appears under “Add these DNS records at your domain's provider:” Each line names what the record is for, its type (TXT, CNAME or A), its name and its value, with Copy.
  3. At your DNS provider: open your domain's DNS settings and add each record exactly as shown. Add only one of the two traffic records: “If this is your domain's root (no www or other prefix)” or “If it is below the root, such as events.example.org”.
  4. In atduty: choose Verify. DNS usually takes a few minutes to an hour, and can take up to 48 hours.
  5. In atduty: once it is verified, atduty reviews the address. You are told when it is live, and your pages then open at it.

Let your staff join by their email domain

  1. In atduty: on the same page, under Add an email domain, type your email domain, such as example.org, and choose Add. A domain you already proved for your web address needs nothing more.
  2. At your DNS provider: add the TXT record atduty shows, as above.
  3. In atduty: choose Verify, then choose the role in Auto-join. People who sign up with a verified address at that domain join with that role.

If it doesn't work

  • “No matching TXT record found yet. DNS can take a few minutes.” Check the record's name: some providers add your domain to the name for you, so typing it in full makes it appear twice. Then wait and verify again.
  • “Another organization has already proved this domain. Contact support.” Use the support address at the end of this page.
